Unlock the Secrets of Preserved Tumor Samples with Spatial Gene Expression Analysis for FFPE

GenomeWebinars

More than one billion tissue samples — most of which are formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded (FFPE) — harbor hidden biological secrets in biobanks across the world. Unfortunately, the FFPE preservation process can damage RNA, making it difficult to perform transcriptomic-level investigations that aim to unlock those secrets. In June 2021, 10x Genomics released a new Visium product that allows users to overcome the challenges that the FFPE preservation poses for spatially resolved transcriptomic profiling. Visium Spatial Gene Expression for FFPE tissues is a next-generation solution for classifying tissue based on total mRNA. Enabling researchers to map the whole transcriptome with morphological context opens the door for discovering novel insights into normal development, disease pathology, and clinical translational research.

In this webinar, Luciane Kagohara, assistant professor at Johns Hopkins Medicine, and Dan Chang, principal scientist and single-cell sequencing lead at Merck Research Laboratories will present preliminary results using the solution, and James Chell, senior scientist at 10x Genomics, will discuss additional opportunities for discovery.
